At our second-annual Christmas party this year, instead of asking guests to bring food or drinks, we asked them to bring a donation from Angel Ridge Animal Rescue's wish list. We got a few monetary donations, and some other miscellaneous items that I have been attempting to take to the shelter to donate, but I've run into a few issues.
First of all, Angel Ridge is not exactly close to our house, so I want to make sure someone will actually be there when I make the trip out there. For that reason, I e-mailed them right after our party to see when a good time to drop off donations would be. I never received a response.
A few weeks went by, and after the post-Christmas buzz, it kicked in that I really needed to get those donations out of here and into the hands of those who can actually put them to good use. I gave the shelter a call to see if they would be available. No answer, and the message on the machine has not been updated since before Christmas (it says they'll be closed Christmas eve and Christmas day).
Their website has also not been updated since before Christmas, and I did hear a rumor that they were "going under." I really liked their shelter after attending a few of their fund-raising events, though, and I wanted the donations to go to them before another organization. Does anyone happen to know what's going on with Angel Ridge?
After we get back from vacation next week, I'll probably drop the physical donations off at Woody's since they collect donations for shelters. I decided to use the financial donations to purchase a "Get Out of Jail Free" card for a dog at the Washington Area Humane Society. Basically, when someone decides to adopt the dog I chose, they will be told that her adoption fee is covered. I chose Olivia.

Got Appliances?
I was browsing the Washington Area Humane Society's website's events page, and I came across this ad, which I was really excited to find.
Sometime in the near future, you will be able to bring any electronic items that you no longer use (think large, bulky computer monitors) and donate them to have them recycled. WAHS will receive 10,000 dollars if they get 100,000 pounds of materials. I will receive a feeling of joy when I can finally get rid of crap that has been sitting around the house forever. I will try to keep checking their website to find out when the drop-off date is, or if you happen to find out before I post something here, please let me know. And start saving your old appliances!
